I once went out with a dude who was a trekkie - we broke up. I really don't like Star Trek. Lost in Space is more my speed. Dr. Smith and Robot are the best. A great comedy duo!! Why can't they make programs like that anymore, the new start trek is really rubbish! I think TV is going down hill, the technology is better these days but they don't seem to have the magic of the older stuff.

At least Kronks appreciates Dr. Smith and Robot. Dr Smith was genius, I don't know how he put up with that stupid robot!! He was a great character though. I think that is what many modern programs lack. Jonathan Harris, born New York apparently.

How many of my Star Trek fans remember the opener?
I think it was interesting this was the first episode.. not one of the best but it certainly got your attention.

Oh wow, @justbec, it's been a long time since I saw that scene. Thanks.
You know what, many people have made fun of the actors on these shows, and I'll admit, some of their performances were really lame and camp. but there was real emotion expressed too. Lots of good memories of Star Trek, and I'm glad I got to experience them.

I totally agree.. They were a bit campy at the beginning but they were also fun. AND they had some really punch you in the gut moments along the way. Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Sulu and Checkov.. it didn't get any better.

Joke:
Higgs boson walks into a church, and the priest says, "I'm sorry we don't allow Higgs bosons to come to churches." And [the Higgs] says, "But without me, you can't have mass."

I liked how they were campy at the start, to me that's what made it good and for me funny.

I used to LOVE some of the faces Kirk would make.. He had some good ones. And it was fun to watch how much Mr. Spock changed from the beginning to the end.

A photon checks into a hotel. The bellboy asks, "Can I help you with your luggage?" and the photon answers, "No, I'm traveling light."
