Every now and then I nip my list down a bit and take off a couple people I never associate with anymore.
I prefer quality over quantity.

I have a friend that over shares. You can block their status changes without blocking them. I had to do that to a cousin of mine who is quite relentless with her daily, very religious, posts.

I don't think that people generally are aware of the possibility that thay can change their profile settings on social media. It's not always that easy to find what you want to alter.

I'm probably guilty, couldn't care less about 99% of the stuff one of my cousins posts

I once deleted my Facebook account beacuse of all the pettiness. I now appear under the alias Tix Mascot only to try to recruit new members to this forum, while letting the lot continue with their daily antics there...

I love Facebook. I enjoy chatting in several groups that interest me. Friends are easy to deal with. You just create a list of the ones you really want to interact with and chat with and another for the ones you could really care less about. They stay friends but you never have to see anything they post unless you want to.

You obviously belong to a unique breed, Justbec, since people can normally be devided into "Facebook" and "forum" categories, which seem to comprise 99 and 1 % of the population, respectively. Lys is definitely a Facebook person, while I classify myself as the forum type.

I always thought I was a forum person too but lately it seems 'most' forums have become a cut and paste hello where no one actually TALKS to each other. Your forum is a rare exception to the rule

At this stage, I'm still grateful for all the traffic it draws, no matter the nature of the posts. But my hope is to attract more "deep" debaters and people with a genuine dedication, with none or few other online commitments, but I doubt that I'll ever find them on Facebook or its like at all. I wonder how other admins have managed to recruit their faithful members. Maybe I was a year or two too late when I started this forum and people's mentality has changed in the meantime?

Many of my friends and family live quite far away and I find that FB keeps me in the loop so to speak. I am lucky, I don't have any fake friends.

@apple, yes same here. Until we moved back to Minnesota last year my family was 1,000's of miles away. I still have family in NC too so Facebook lets me keep in touch.

I haven't been on Facebook for a long time. Not my kind of place.

I use to hate Facebook but I was playing a game and the people you played with had to be friends. I got locked out once and couldn't get in. I got a message from them DON"T START A NEW ACCOUNT!!! So I started a new account but this time only added real friends and some of their grown kids. It's always a good idea to go in and delete the people you never talk to.
I had one friend...actually 3 that all they did was post political crap or repost what others posted. I deleted them all and one was a best friend. about a year later he noticed he never was getting messages from me. I told him I was tired of weeding through his crap to see what my other friends posted. So he made some changes by taking me out of all his group accounts and now we are friends again. Friends enough we are going to his house for Christmas dinner.
Hmm I don't think I have Lys as a friend though.
