A search antenna like that should be placed inside a Faraday cage, so it couldn't be disturbed by outer influences.

I don't think you will ever know from this group. To me it fascinating that it took 17 year for them to figure it out. I'm sitting here shaking my head. But there is one thing not mentioned that came out of this. A lot of people shut theirs down by just opening the door and it's sending waves out still. Sounded like it only happened when it was open early before the timmer went off. My wife always does this. Not sure I will ever do it again.
