I once used my office printer to copy some personal documents. The office printer is of much higher quality than the one I have at home, so I didn't think much of it. But now, I'm wondering if this is a no-no in most workplaces?

I would ask the nearest boss for permission first.

I think that losts of people use their work equipment for private purposes. My father was a school principal and both he, other teachers and family mambers used school property, not only the photo copier, but also the wood and metal shop for private things. Depends on the work place, I guess, but ultimately, it's a mater of practice and tradition.

I definitely think it depends on the workplace and the strictness of their rules. Also, the frequency with which you do it. If it was a one time thing that's not as serious as someone doing it repeatedly.
