As of 16 January 2018, Windows 8.1 will remain forever unchanged, with no new features or bug fixes. If you want to upgrade your OS to Windows 10, it's no longer free, but I haven't found out how much you will be charged.
I changed to W10 some years ago, when my old PC crashed and I needed to replace it.
Yes, you read correctly. I'm a computer enthusiast, but I don't use Apple products. My username has nothing to do with that, but stems from my school years, when I liked to brag of my Gaelic ancestors, brave clansmen and Highlanders in my family tree, so they started to call me Mac.

Lately, Windows 10 has annoyed me by demanding one update after another, which takes 30 minutes of blocking everything else and requires a restart each time. But I guess that's the lesser of two evils, since opting out of the updates can mean security hazards. Sigh...
