Idiot-in-Chief decided to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Swift move. I really believe this psycho won't be happy until we are in global war.

Did any of you hear The Donald's speech on the subject today? First, he constantly snorts, and also, he couldn't pronounce many words (including United States.) I'm not sure if he is drunk, stoned, has poor fitting dentures, or all three.

Anyone who imagines that moving the Embassy will be anything more than a symbolic gesture is naive.
On the other hand anyone who imagines that leaving it where it is will be anything more than a symbolic gesture is equally naive.
Frankly, the problems of the region require common sense, good will and give and take.
Sadly, that is almost entirely absent on all sides.
Trump is simply trying to buy a few Jewish votes in the US.

Anyone that imagines it will change a damn thing in that region is naive. Trump is a politician, of course he's buying some votes by it.. Just like every politician before him.. just a different faith.

The situation in the Middle East is so inflamed that the slightest spark may ignite the entire area, so any move to change the frail balance could be disastrous.

It has been that way for around 80 years or so and it is dishonest to imagine that a) Obama improved things; b) Trump has made them worse.
Clinton - a man I deeply loathe - did at least try but got nowhere. None
None of his predecessors even tried and none of his successors have tried either.
No American administration has had anything approaching a coherent policy on the Middle East since at least Eisenhower and more probably since Truman.
They have huffed and puffed but failed to blow anyone's house down.
Both sides are to blame; the Arabs are completely cynical and have always used the Palestinians as a cat's paw and as an excuse while the Israelis have become increasingly dominated by the hard right and by religious extremists.
Trump will no more do anything meaningful than any of his predecessors.
This is not a 'party' issue; it is a refusal to face up to reality by all parties in the region and both main US parties.

It seems as if Trump and Netanyahu have been taking a step away from the two state solution by contemplating the possibility for Israel to secure Palestine's borders with Jordan and Egypt. Mahmoud Abbas calls it "one step away from peace".
