Today is Buy Nothing Day. (see Adbusters)
We have been observing this since from when I can remember. It's a good practice to re-focus Christmas.

Buy Nothing Day is a good observance and brings one back to Earth to remember what this holiday is about.
It's definitely not about manic shopping and bargains. It's about being mindful, thoughtful, and, as an extension, thorough.

We don't do much shopping so we skip all the madness. If I need something I buy it if I don't need it I don't buy it. Doesn't matter when it is. The best sales are after Christmas anyway.

Same here Joey. Most of my Christmas shopping was done months ago. Now it's just stocking stuffers. And I'm the same way, if I need or want something I buy it, regardless of the day.

That's true about the sales, Joey. My mother, my sister and I used to have a tradition of going out and hitting the sales the day after Christmas...you could get great bargains. We haven't done that in years though.
