Have you also received this message when you have clicked on the "unsubscribe here" link with microscopic print at the bottom of a spam mail? It has happened to me extremely many times lately, but to what avail? Before long, the same spam from the same addresses return in a seemingly endless row: Ray Ban sun glasses, blue jeans, vitamins, nutrition, sex toys and about everything else! Is the "unsubscribe" function just a useless gimmick? A while a go, I even started to receive mails in Finnish, a language that I don't understand. But I found a link at the usual place and clicked on it, whereupon the same confirmation message appeared. The very next day, the same spam from the Land of Thousand Lakes was back! Is there a way to get rid of all this garbage short of changing your e-mail address?

YES!!!
On the phone I get those messages...hit one if you would like us to quit contacting you. I never hit one because you could be agreeing to anything. Just like on your Brain-Teasers you have the answer hidden. You could put any kind of link there and send us anywhere. But we know you wouldn't do it so we click on it to see the answer.
At least those are my thoughts on unsubscribe or hitting one on the phone to do the same.

I'll take your advice and stop clicking on the unsubscribe links. It probably doesn't work anyway, since I found not less than four spam mails in Finnish in my inbox today. bleh

I'll give you some more advice whether yo want it or not...lol. Start a Google Gmail account. Only give out that address to friends and family, doctors etc. Don't give it to any businesses. I did and I never get spam now. All the spam goes to the other address. Let me make a correction to that. I have added others and when they reply with spam there is a spam area to send it too. Then the next time they send something it goes right into the spam area and you only see it if you open the spam area to see what's there. But GMAIL has really worked well for me.

I have a gmail account that I used mainly for recruiting more members to this forum. Since I stopped doing that, I haven't used it much, because I have to log on with a username and password every time I want to enter. My regular e-mail account - or rather the one I borrow from Lys - has an automatic log-on function upon staring the computer, so it's very practical. At least, I managed to switch off the service that sent all the Facebook updates by friends as messages to our main e-mail address, which was very annoying and added to the spam every day. On my previous computer, I had another e-mail programme, where I could block unwanted addresses, but I haven't found it on the current one (Widows Live Mail). It could also be that I'm too dense to discover it...

My G mail opens on it's own. I wonder why yours doesn't. I also send all things I don't want to see to span and that's where they all go. Is there a box you can check that says keep me logged in? Every once and a while I delete all my searches, I have to log back in here when I do that but check keep me logged in. But my G mail always stays on and I never log back in to it.

I don't want to stay logged in to my Gmail continuously, as it's connected to my Google+ account, which you can click on by going to our Gazette page, bottom middle column. If it's open, anybody may enter; and read, edit and delete whatever they like in there. Same with my Facebook and Twitter accounts. I left the links there in case visitors would want to like and share, in the hope of recruiting some new members in a roundabout way.
