When pupils use cell phones during class, it may draw the attention away from the syllabus and the effort of the teachers. Should it still be allowed?

I think pupils should only bring cell phones to school if they have special need for it.

It is important for students to have their cellphone on them at all times. However, during class they should be turned off, or the volume of the ring lowered, and not answered or used for texting. Use of a cellphone in class distracts from the subject being taught and it is not courteous to the students who might really want to learn something.

In some schools, they have installed so-called "cell phone hotels", where the pupils park their phones in a rack with a lockable door. They are only allowed to used them when the teacher thinks it's OK and opens the rack.
