On inauguration day, people from all over the country came to show their support for the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. However, many people also traveled to Washington, D.C., to express their contempt for the leader of the free world. After the official swearing-in ceremony, protests quickly turned violent and resulted in more than $100,000 in damages, according to the Daily Mail. “Anti-fascist” protesters smashed store windows, burned trash cans in the street, damaged a police vehicle, and lit a limousine on fire. A Facebook group created for the “Not My President,” protest said: “Join us on Inauguration Day to make our voices heard. We refuse to recognize Donald Trump as the President of the United States, and refuse to take orders from a government that puts bigots into power. We have to make it clear to the public that we did not choose this man for office and that we won't stand for his ideologies.” Now, protesters may be learning the hard lesson that comes with the responsibility of “free speech,” and “having your voice heard.” As reported by CNN, 214 of the more than 400 people present have been indicted on felony riot charges. Last month, 209 people were charged, and on Tuesday D.C.'s grand jury indicted five more people — Alessandro Pane, Alexei Wood, Kaitlyn Rorke, Matthew Pink and Dane Powell, according to the International Business Times. The indictment reportedly accused the suspects of committing, “violent and destructive acts,” including the assault of the limousine driver. It also allegedly accused those charged with using black bloc attire to conceal their identities. The Daily Mail wrote that some of those who have been charged had their phones seized by D.C. police upon their arrests. The outlet also claimed that police are engaging in a social media investigation to build their case. A search warrant will allow Facebook to turn over messages, photos, videos, timelines posts, and location information, according to Facebook's guidelines. IP addresses of the cell phones could allow police to prove suspects were at the scene of the protest during the time of the unrest. CBS's WTVR identified that felony rioting charges come with a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to a $25,000 fine. linkGood! I hope they find them all!

Daily Mail, CNN, International Business Times, the The Daily Mail again and CBS...Well you know from your president's mouth they all put out FAKE NEWS so what can you really believe here? Where was FOX the only one you can believe?
But I agree if you committed the crimes above you have to pay the price. They don't want me on those juries because I would hang them all. There is a right way to protest and a wrong way to protest and trump doesn't care what they think anyway.

I hope it's not fake. They deserve to go to jail AND pay for the damages.

They should go to prison for what they did and to pay the store owners for the damage they caused.

Agreed with everyone above...they should absolutely go to jail and be made to pay for the damage they caused. There is a right way and a wrong way to protest and those going about it the wrong way need to learn that lesson. While the media certainly has been less than reliable I sure hope in this case they are reporting legitimately.

Those people were so few in number they aren't even worth talking about. Yet that is what this thread is about. The protesters that caused damage to public and private property.

This shows the ignorance of your bias. Hundreds of thousands of protesters during the inauguration, maybe 500 do this and you want to preach abut the 500 like anyone who protested against this fool Trump were burning things and destroying property. So where is the thread about the 48 bomb threats from Trump supporters to Jewish centers? Or the thread about the Indian who was killed by another Trump supporter yelling get out of my country after he shot 2 of them in KC? If not for me bringing it up, you wouldn't even consider it. Oh but those who oppose Der furher Trump who killed no one, who threatened death to no one we'll just rant on and on and on about them. STAY on topic without insults or I will ask that your posts be removed. Your choice.

Or the thread about the Indian who was killed by another Trump supporter yelling get out of my country after he shot 2 of them in KC? Funny, I didn't hear a thing about that nut job being a Trump supporter. But even if he was, since when is one person representative of a whole group? And yet in the supposedly unbiased mainstream media all you hear about are the fanatics like this, not the thousands of perfectly reasonable conservatives who don't go around attacking anyone. Every group has their fanatics and basing your opinion of the entire group on those few is never right.

I was on topic.
Note you only took part of what I said and not all of what I said.
But like I said before...the part you left out...I would hang every one of them if I was on the jury.

Joey I know and read what you said in it's entirety. And I took that part out because it was not the thread topic any more than what I said about the killer in KC and the Jewish threats. I did that because that was part of your statement just like what I said was a part of mine whereby I did mention the thread topic and then mentioned other subjects. No IM2, this is what you said. Those people were so few in number they aren't even worth talking about. The majority of protesters against Trump were peacefully airing their grievances with what we have seen now as a man who has autocratic tendencies and a soft spot for white supremacists. He has made some here even believe the media all lies and that's his game because when the stuff comes out about Russia that shows how he worked with them to subvert an election, those who believe all the news is fake will all join in taking his side believes that the media is lying on Trump so he can get away with a crime. You dismissed the Topic so you could continue once again get on with your agenda which is Donald Trump. 'They aren't worth talking about'.. then why did you bother to? Or should I say what was the point of commenting at all since you had no intention of commenting on the actual topic of this thread?

Now as it pertains to those who committed the crime send em on to jail if that's what the crimes warrants. That is not my issue with the propaganda. I don't think these are hangable offenses joey, that might be going a wee bit too far. You see these businesses some here are crying about had insurance so they lost nothing, will rebuild and get back in business in short time without losing a dime. So let us not try making 10 percent or less of those who protested all the perpetrators and only complain about them when thousands had nothing to do with it, and millions the weekend after that had nothing to do with violence either.
And still now there are thousands out on the streets, no violence, protesting and attending town halls protesting without nary an incident of violence.
There is a chance that the business owners and car owners premiums will go up because they had to file a claim. The protesters who caused the damage should have to pay for the damage they did.

@amulet, excellent point. So because the insurance will pay the damage that makes it ok? No, it doesn't and the costs will eventually trickle down to Joe public who will make up for the cost.
