It's very difficult to capture lightning like that. I have tried many times when the weather has been favourable, but at best, I have only managed to take some blurred images.

If you can use a tripod and a camera that can take long exposer picture it helps. Or if using a digital camera and take several shots, then delete all the ones you don't want. But tripods are the biggest help.
But that's a great shot.

But tripods are the biggest help. But that's a great shot. You are absolutely right, Joey. For a while, I worked at a newspaper as a journalist and photographer, where I developed my own pictures. The problem with capturing lightning is that you have to be ready when the weather conditions are right and - like you write - have the necessary equipment (at least if you want to do it the traditional way). I also agree that a phone camera used on the spur of the moment could be an alternative for those modern enough to possess a digital solution!
