Well at least it isn't a reality show.

So awesome to have it back after a 2 month break. And it didn't disappoint! Rick has gotten his mojo back and the group is back together.

And...we're baaack! Good to see Rick and co. in full on attack mode again, though I don't know why they bothered wasting their time on Gregory. The man is such a wuss. I was thinking the whole time, just talk to the people of Hillside directly, they'll listen. Fortunately Enid had the same idea.
So now they're on board but King Ezekiel is dragging is feet. I wanted to smack Morgan. Does he really think he can maintain this "peace, love and understanding" approach with Negan running wild out there? Hopefully now that Daryl has stayed behind in the Kingdom he'll be able to talk some sense into someone...either Morgan, Ezekiel, or more likely Carol. I'm still thinking she'll be the key. If Daryl can get to her, she'll be able to get to Ezekiel.
Absolutely LOVED the whole highway sequence. The slice and dice move with the herd was epic!
And then there's Fr. Gabriel. Just what the hell is he up to? Why write the word "boat" in his notebook? Obviously Rick and Aaron assume it's related to the boat they used. But what is it all about and why would he take all of their supplies? And who is this new group they found? Whoever they are, they're well armed. And judging by the expression on his face when the episode ended, Rick seemed pretty confident they could turn into allies. Hmmmm...

Ok, I just need a fangirl moment here...YEESSSSS!!! Just needed to get that out of my system. Last night was a Daryl extravaganza and I was loving every moment of it.
First off, though...Ezekiel has got to come around about the Saviors. So does Morgan. I don't know what Morgan is trying to prove but he is seriously deluded about the peaceful approach working. And the other guy, Roger I think, I was glad Daryl kicked his ass. He means well, at least he's got the right idea about taking down the Saviors but sacrificing Carol in the process? NOT cool. And he really picked the wrong person to bring in on that plan!
The new group, the Scavengers are, er, interesting. Don't understand their use of clipped language but I do love their little "fortress" and apparently it's helped them stay off the Saviors radar. I was shocked at the turn about with Fr. Gabriel...never expected to see him step up like that, wow! But I was glad that it turned out he was taken and didn't run out on the others. And the whole bit with Rick vs. Winslow was wild. I was almost sorry to see Winslow go...would've loved to seem them sick him on the Saviors!
As for Daryl...as I said, DANG! Just seeing him with a cross bow in his hands again, even if it wasn't HIS crossbow, was freakin' awesome! Let the badassery commence! And now Roger knows not to mess with Carol. LOVED Daryl and Carol's reunion, I was seriously tearing up, and I both was and wasn't surprised that Daryl didn't tell her about Abraham and Glen. I wanted him to but I understood why he didn't. I was surprised at how fragile she allowed herself to look in front of him. Those two sure have a bond. And speaking of bonds, I also absolutely LOVED the bit at the end with Daryl and Shiva. It broke my heart to see Daryl sitting in front of the cage...you could tell from his expression he was remembering being caged up by Negan and somehow Shiva knew she could trust him. When she nuzzled his hand as he was talking to Morgan I about lost it!
All that said, this one left us with a lot to wonder about...is Rosita going to continue to be a loose cannon and get them in more trouble? Will Jadis make good on her end of the deal with Rick? Can you really trust the Scavengers? How is King Ezekiel going to finally come around? And what's going to happen when Carol eventually finds out the truth which you know she will? Can't wait to find out!

I came in half way last night because of company but really enjoyed what I saw. It's finally starting to get a bit of the old feel back after a brutal beginning to the season.

Zombies, vampires and horror don't fascinate me anymore, so I doubt that I have seen an entire episode.

I never ever thought I would like this show but after two episodes I was hooked. I don't even notice the zombies and gore anymore. The thing that grabs you and pulls you in is the story behind the group of people that all come together. What they will and won't do to survive.

Agreed with @justbec. It's not at all my type of show either but once you watch, you're hooked. And yes, it's more about the people and the effect living in that world has on them, which is compelling.

Well that was an interesting change of pace. Figured we'd have to get back to the Saviors eventually, especially since they have Eugene now, but I could've lived without it. Although it was cool getting a closer look at both Eugene and Dwight.
Have to hand it to Eugene...just when you think he's going to fall apart like a cheap suit the guy goes and surprises you. He was actually pretty much kicking ass in his own way. Loved him stepping up and taking the supplies he needed. And I do think he was right for refusing to give the wives the pills and for pledging his loyalty to Negan. He may be a lot of things but the guy is not dumb. He's keeping himself alive and I don't believe for a second that he was sincere about pledging his loyalty to Negan. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
As for Dwight, he's a hard one to figure out. The guy's been nothing but a jackass so far and then last night they suddenly expect us to have sympathy for him. I guess that would be easier if we hadn't watched him basically making Daryl's life miserable. And then turning on the doctor...ouch, that was cold. And led to the most gut wrenching moment of the night. I definitely did not need to see the doc become charbroiled...eesh!
Much as I can't stand him, you can't deny that Negan isn't stupid either. He recognized immediately how valuable Eugene could be and that he couldn't take the same "tough love" approach with him that he had with Daryl. Smart and chillingly violent...a deadly combo. But I still think he's going to get his comeuppance one way or another.

I wasn't sure what to make of last night's episode, but I did like the fact that it kind of had that S1/S2 vibe, just our group of survivors against the walkers. I was glad that we finally got to see Rick working through everything that happened and I felt a little pang of emotion when he talked about Glen saving him in the beginning. That said, I think he and Michonne were getting a little too cocky for their own good there. Still, I'm glad it all worked out, even if the guns still weren't enough for Jadis. But I love that Rick is standing up to her and she clearly appreciates that. A breath of fresh air after Negan.
As for the others...I feel for Tara having her dilemma about giving up Oceanside but I think she was right to go to Rick and I just hope that they'll try to reason with the ladies there and not just run roughshod over them.
Rosita, on the other hand, is going to get someone killed if she keeps up her crap and I just hope if that's the case that it's only her that dies. I was a little surprised at Sasha going along with her, thought she was more levelheaded than that. And once again we saw the new and improved Fr. Gabriel standing up for what's right. Have to say I've been impressed with the way he's come around.
The best part of the night for me, though, was the coming attraction for next week. Looks like bad ass Carol is back...FINALLY! And hopefully she'll talk some sense into Ezekiel.

What was your first clue Joey,? It was a really good episode. Started off a bit odd with Michonne and Rick out looking for guns and food.. not to mention fooling around in the van...in the store... The scene at the Carnival with the decaying zombie was well gross but I was laughing at the same time.. The look on Rick's face was like 'hell really??" Jadis and her crew are odd to say the least and I am more than a little worried that they may just be using Alexandria and Hilltop so they can get weapons. Once they have all they want who's to say they won't double cross Rick? Also agree that Rosita is a loose cannon right now. She and Sasha could really mess things up if they manage to get to Negan's compound. They screw up and don't kill him he will take it out on the whole group.. again.. Great episode, can't wait until next week.
