Musher's Secret is a dense, barrier wax that forms a breathable bond with your dog's paws.
Developed in Canada for use with sledding dogs, it provides tenacious protection even in the most extreme conditions. Mushers Wax available in three sizes Safe and Natural . Made from a blend of several food-grade
waxes, then refined according to our our own special formulations, Musher's Secret is the safe, non-toxic
way to protect your dog's paws. The semi-permeable shield is absorbed into the paws, allowing perspiration
to escape through the toes.
Made from 100% natural waxes and easy to apply!
Spread a light coating of Musher's Secret on the pads and rub in. Mushers will absorb in minutes (rub a little on your hands, when it is absorbed you will know it is absorbed into the pads as well). We use an old rug near the door for application purposes. In very harsh cold or snowy conditions be sure to rub up in between the pads to prevent snowballing.
For year round use, 1-2 times a weeks is sufficient. During extreme weather additional applications may be necessary. Frequency may depend on length of your walk and weather conditions.
Archie suddenly had a problem with 'snowballing' in the pads of his feet. The last two days we had to cut the walk short because of it. This has rave reviews so I am hoping it will work.

I've never heard of it before and our Malamute was a house dog like yours. She never had any problems that I could tell but it makes me wonder if it would help Emory. Emory doesn't like ice but is liking the snow. On the ice she starts to walk like she is crippled. Her feet get really cold. Right now I pick her up and warm her feet a couple times. Might have to look into this product. Our last Chihuahua loved the snow and never had a problem. This is Emory's first taste of winter.

OK sounds interesting. I can see where dogs that are outside all the time could really use it. By the way I'm not a fan of leaving any dog out all the time.

We've used it for two days now and Archie came back from his walk with no snow balls in his feet.

The only negative I have read about was that if you put it on their paws and they walk in dirt or sand it can track in if you don't wipe the paws before coming inside.

Well that isn't a problem her. Not only do we wipe her feet when they get wet we wipe her butt so she doesn't drag it on the floor. EM is spoiled.

So are you still using the wax @justbec, Here we really didn't have any snow this but we had ice and neither her or I could hold on it. Just a sheet of ice, smooth as ice and slick as could be.

Since most of our snow has melted and it's no longer safe to walk on the ice we haven't needed it. I think we will use it when the weather is warmer because we will have to walk the dogs in the neighborhood and that means on pavement.

Is wax suppose to help with heat too? Or is it to keep their pads soft?

It is suppose to help protect their paws from hot pavement and the rough gravel. They do say you should wipe their paws off before coming in if they are walking on roads or sand.. or it will track.

Luckily here we stay on the sidewalk so the dirt part isn't a problem, but the heat can be on those really hot summer days.
