Johan Löfgren (34) took rare picture at Örebro! He was out trying to snap a photo of northern lights; and was actually about to pack up his camera and go home when he heard a strange noise and focused in that direction. The result is stunning.

Wow that is cool. Would have loved to get a shot of that. I see them often but rare if ever ever am I taking night pictures. Saw one that was real bright once and right at the end hooked back, like a J in the sky. Haven't seen one that bright since and wasn't taking pictures, just watching the sky.

I've seen meteorites dozens of times, but only as a stripe of yellow light, what we call a shooting star, never one exploding as it hits the atmosphere. Johan Löfgren is one lucky dude. He will remember this moment forever!
Once at my grandmother's place when I was around 7, I was playing with cars in a sand pit outside her basement door one evening. As I resumed my activity the next morning, I saw a strange object among my dump trucks and excavators. It was metallic grey, looked melted and the size of a golf ball. It must have been a meteorite - or a part thereof - having fallen down there during the night. I left it on a shelf for many years, but it disappeared when we gave the basement a makeover.
