If you could have another pet of any kind shape or size what would it be?
My first thought is I'd like to have tropical fish again. And the reason is they are fun to watch, sort of hypnotizing really, plus they are easy to take care of. Even if you have to leave for a while. I think they make automatic feeders or you could have someone stop in and feed them.

Great thread, Joey! There is really no space for a pet in our tiny apparment. A fish tank would probably have been turned over and ended on the floor in pieces very soon. LOL Seriously, we cannot afford cat or dog food. Neither can I commit myself to a dog's regular routines and needs, so I don't know which kind of pets we could have here, maybe a spider in a box?

I have places for my 55 gallon tank but there are so many windows it would fill with algae and then it turns into work. But the do make small deep tank that might work well. More of a table top size. Has a hood and filter all in one.
No room for a horse here with all the deer, turkey, squirrels etc. But my wife would love to have one. We both like the little ones we see. Seems even if we could have them they would be a lot of work that I know nothing about.
Kitten would be nice for Emory to play with but some cat's I'm allergic to.
So my next choice would be a couple finches, just two and they make feeders you could easily leave them for a couple days.

I thought that finches were wild birds. Now, you have closed another gap in my knowledge, Joey!

There are wild finches too. I'll try to put a picture in Joeys Backyard of the ones we feed. But right now with construction going on I took the feeders in. We have a lot of wild Goldfinches that are here year round. Their plumage changes in the winter to a grayish color and in the summer they turn a bright yellow. The finches above are outside birds in Central Australia and a couple other places. They would die in our harsh winters. I've talked to people in Texas and they thought all birds flew south in the winter. But we have as many birds in the winter as the summer, just a different variety except the ones that stay all year.

I had to Google this word. It's a lynx-like African wildcat. Must be quite a handful to control as a pet. LOL

We don't have any of those but here on our hill (it's a large hill) there was a bobcat spotted. It was a few miles from here and they caught a picture of it on a infrared camera in the side yard of our good friends.
But I like the caracal...just not sure about as a pet.

I have no clue, they are beautiful but if you can keep them as pets they sure are nice looking. I also Googled it to see what it was. Didn't check size or if you could have them as pets.

Apparently you can, Joey. Keep them as pets, that is.
