Or a dead puppy. There was a huge recall a few years ago that cover at lot of popular brands and we got lucky because none of her food was on it. I have a friend in Florida that hand mixes all her dog food so it doesn't happen to her. She also had a couple dogs that had special diets but they have crossed the Rainbow Bridge and she just has one dog now. Last time I heard from her she was thinking about adding a new pup. But for dog or cat owners thinking of changing brands, before they do they should look up The FDA recall list. Above is just this year, there were two more pages from the last couple years also.

So sad. One cannot trust the manufacturers of pet food to have the best interest of the animals at heart.

I think profit is their key goal and not the health of animals...sadly. I wold think it would be high sales but that just isn't the case.

Are there any treats you won't give your dog or cat?
We use to give Sam Greenies but stopped for a couple reasons. One was she could chew one down and eat it so fast. We also heard they might not be good for her. But the last one is why we stopped giving her greenies and rawhide. She would eat a little then guard it for the rest of the night or even a couple days. She wouldn't let you get near it and became very antisocial with US the people the feed her and give her treats. They let the hose and she was a sweet dog again. We really hope Emory doesn't pick up that habit.

I was strict with Moses and Aurea. Never gave them chocolate and other sweets although they sometimes begged. We also tried to change their preferences more in the direction of dry pellets and it worked most of the time.

Our cats will get Temptations and occasionally some bits of bacon but that's it. Archie gets sweet potatoes wrapped in jerky chicken, jerky chicken and BONZ. I just bought him Blue Buffalo Wilderness 'Wild Bones' which are grain and gluten free and promote good breath and teeth. He LOVES them.

Great that he loves them. The Chicken Jerky was Sammy's favorite. For a while they had it pulled off the shelves. They switched to Duck Jerky but we looked for something different. But she just liked any treat. You say treat and what ever it was she would take it. The ones that were pulled off the shelves for a while was Wagon Tails or something like that. She would do all her tricks and all you had to do is stand with it in your hand. But they are back on the market now.

We are giving Emory Begging strips when she comes in from outside. You can buy mini strips and thats what we do. Then we break those into two pieces and that's what she gets. She loves them so we are using them to continue her or reenforce her training.

Emory got new treats today. I'll be cutting them in half but they are perfect for her small mouth. Then the others dried out they were pretty hard. These are like a meatballs and crumble when ate. It's a treat so it's hard to tell if she likes it better, the same or worse...she not saying. But as fast as she ate I'd say she gives it two paws up.

What do you give her as a reward for obeying your commands?

Obeying commands? Is this some kind of joke?...lol. She gets treats for doing her business outside. The only thing she does really well is walk the neighborhood. Sammy had to mark her area about every 50 or hundred feet. Emory has no idea what marking her area is. So walks are non stop till we return home. Inside the house she wants to play and check Ricco's cage. The little car I bought helps. Tell her to stay away she goes there anyway. Stand there and she will leave. Turn your head and she will sneak back in. We need to give her more time outs for not minding. But she would have to mind first.

Sammy did sit, down, turn around and jump. I would make a hand motion with each command so you could say it or just do the hand motions and she would do all her tricks. But Emory seems to be the best walker. I'll check the link. Thanks. I'm a big fan of Ceasar.

Right now I'm not feeding any out door animals because I had to take the feeders down so they could work in the backyard.
