We're cat people. Adopted a kitten in Greeley, Colorado & named it Greeley. Years later we adopted Mimi & lastly we had Peaches. When we lost Peaches we were so sad, we haven't adopted since then.

I once had a cat named Moses. He was all white and liked to stay in cars' engines, so he always had a black stripe of oil down his spine. We had to put hime away at age three because of incurable parasites.
One summer, we had a pet sheep named Dolly. This was long before the eponymous clone. LOL. She had lost her mother and need someone to feed her with milk from a bottle. Later, she was returned to the farm, where she lived for many years and had several litters of lambs.

Bessemer, I remember Greeley well and know about Peaches as well but I don't remember Mimi. Hope you have pictures of all of then to post. They leave their prints on your heart forever.
Heretic, I when I saw theme moses I was thinking very old. Sad to here that wasn't the case. Never had a sheep for a pet but it sounds like you did an admiral job of raising her. I was hopeful you kept her. But probably best you didn't. My parents had goats and one (the last one) was like a dog and would follow dad w=here ever he went. His names Blacky. He was born there and was coal black. He gave him to a family that had kids.

My father grew up on a farm with a goat, whose milk he drank, because my grandmother was convinced that he would become stronger than if he had drunk cow's milk.

Hope it did but I think I'll steer clear of any goats milk.

geriatrix , your gram was prob right! I grew up in the farm world and have a great love of animals as a result. So I grew up with cows, pigs, horses, cats. dogs around. I've had three cats before the one I have now. First a sister and brother I named Sasha (grey tom with white markings), And Freedom (female black with white markings). I got them when my oldest sister's cat had kittens. Then I had a tom named Sapphyre (almost all black with a tuft of white on his chest and gorgeous blue eyes, hence the name). His mom abandoned him when he was 5 weeks old, on the street. A coworker brought him into where I worked at the time and said she was going to take him to the SPCA. So I took him. Poor thing had a bad infection and needed vet care but he came out all right. My cat now is a tabby girl. Her first owner called her Catmandu. I changed the spelling a bit to Khatmandu. She had two owners before me and the last one had asthma and couldn't keep her. She is very shy and scared. And my baby. She has IBS due to allergies, so she is a mess to deal with. But we may have finally stumbled on the best care for her. It took all of 9 years though Pets, gotta love them P

All your pets sound beautiful and I can see you give them great care. Not always easy at times but you stick with it. You are a great pet owner. I can picture Sapphyre Black with Blue eye I bet he was really pretty.
My grand parents had a dairy farm but also had cats and dogs. My favorite was the pigs. They would have the cutest piglets. At times I would go inside and pet the mother and the babies. Later I found out that could be dangerous. But I think that also gave me the love for animals. On the farm they had a German Shepard need Mike that loved the stray cat that showed up. He would lay under the car with the cat and would sendup with a scratched up nose. But he never gave up.
The reason I don't have cats are my allergies. I'm allergic to some but not all. So we have always had dogs.

The only thing in your list I haven't had are cats and mice. But one of the fish I had was a Piranha and I had six of them. Started with three and they were very calm. I feed them goldfish and they ate the slowly. Then a friend called me at work and asked if I wanted his 3. He had a hex tank and somehow they cracked a seam on the tank and it started leaking. So after work I picked them up. Meanest fish I've ever had. I'd put a dozen goldfish in and they would be gone in 10 minutes or less. One of mine lost an eye in the feeding frenzy. After 5000 goldfish I stopped counting. Once they all died I got out of the fish business But I'd love having more normal fish. Just no place for the 55 gallon tank.

My family in Brazil had dwarf turtles. They only became like 4-5 inches long as adults. We kept them in a tank that was half filled with water and had a sandy beach. They ate some strange powder that we bought in boxes at a zoo.
My father-in-law brought a bunch of stuffed animals from Brazil to Italy in the 1960s. In our appartment there, we had a crocodile, a tapir, a couple of piranhas, a rattlesnake and I don't know what else mounted on a livingroom shelf. They were given to distant relatives when we sold the appartment.

When my sister and I were younger we had several different turtles. I think most were red ear turtles. Not sure what we feed them it was so long ago. Not you can't buy those tiny turtles here anymore. My wife worked with a guy that had several turtles, much bigger than ours. He and his wife got divorced and I thing he ended up with the turtles. Once he died I don't know what happened to them.

Turtles aren't allowed in Norway anymore unless you have a medical certificate that you are allergic to fur!

We got two red ear sliders when someone dumped them outside in the middle of winter. We named them Wally and Beaver. Sadly Wally died a few years ago but Beaver is doing great and has his own private bow front 30 gallon Aquarium.

I liked to watch the turtles in Brazil. Somehow, their slow movements made me relax. LOL
