This is not an April Fools' Day prank: Guns N' Roses will kick off their much anticipated "classic lineup" reunion tour Friday night at Los Angeles' venerable the Troubador, the first in a series of April shows that will find Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and a still-unknown cast of supporting players performing in Las Vegas and Mexico City and a pair of Coachella headlining shows. The Troubadour gig marks the first time Rose and Slash have shared the stage together since their infamous July 17th, 1993 gig in Buenos Aires.
Rumors of a GNR reunion on the Sunset Strip began circulating in mid-March when former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler's April 1st concert at the Whisky A Go-Go was canceled. In the ensuing weeks, rumors regarding Adler's involvement in the reunion have also intensified thanks to a photo of Ahead drumsticks from GNR's rehearsals that was posted on the band's Twitter.
Tickets will be available to buy starting at noon PT at Gibson Brands at 8801 Sunset Blvd., with the band pricing all tickets at $10. TMZ confirmed that LAPD were mobilizing on the Sunset Strip to prepare for the throng of GNR fans hoping to score one of the reported 250 available tickets for the concert.
The band also revealed in a statement that the former home of Tower Records (Which boasted Slash as a former employee) will be "transformed into a complete interactive GNR experience with a memorabilia exhibit." The exhibit is set to open at noon local time and will include "historic items such as members’ classic attire, original artwork, personal awards and more."
Guns N' Roses also recently announced a string of 21 cities that will be visited by the band's reunion tour, although dates and venues were not specified.
