I have a forum question.. And first and foremost I do NOT mean to be rude, so please do not take it that way. The question is this... The welcome banner here says 'Where active people debate...' so why is it when I hit recent threads all I ever see are game threads... which I have no interest in. Am I missing something? I'm pretty new so I may not know all the tricks to this board.

Well, start a thread and lets debate.  Justbec, this is always a struggle for forum owners who want great discussions and debates on their forums. Sometimes people don't really have a desire to engage in conversations but would rather post in games. Its a very difficult battle to keep the board relevant and not just a place for games. Not that there is anything wrong with games. |

The welcome banner here says 'Where active people debate...' When I started this forum, I wanted a catchy slogan that reflected my intentions, namely a place where people can debate their favourite topics in a respectful atmosphere and hopefully become active while at it. For a long time, I sailed against the wind, however. A handful of diligent participants created hundreds of interesting threads that are still waiting for more posts. Then, suddenly, during the course of a few months, about a dozen ProBoard admins joined the Heretix Forum and started to post a lot, mainly in the thread games and the reason is obvious: That's all they have time for on their daily rounds to between 10 and 20 other forums that they would like to support and see prosper. I should know this first hand, since I'm one of them.  To keep the wheels in motion, this means that I need to reply to their posts here for them to continue coming and contributing, so you are right: The forum is seemingly flooded with game posts. But I try my best to find the time to create at least two "serious" threads every day as well, one related to the "holmgang" style pro-con debates and the other to the supernatural. Let's see how that works out. We have focused on various other topics before, like health, music, fashion and self-realisation, but with little success. Some of the old threads have been "banished" to The Basement, but there should still be enough of them available for the right people to use as a foundation for more interesting debates. |

I understand but then again I don't.. If someone has time to post on 20 game threads shouldn't they have time to stop, chat in the chat thread and maybe post in a few non game threads??? Just me I guess but I visit the forums of everyone that visits Paradise Lost and a few forums of people that don't visit. I make a point to actually visit, not just paste in a greeting and leave. As I said, it's not meant as a criticism or to be rude.. But I have to admit, it was that banner that caught my attention when I joined. Paradise has a game board... no games though.. just some trivia. LOL. Oh and @apple, once I figure out where to post things like that I just might start a thread to debate. |

There are many different personalities stopping by here. Some like our "filet mignon", while others favour "chocolate pudding". I have to be grateful for each contribution as long as it's not rude and disrespectful. |

it's funny you should post this today @justbec, as I thought exactly the same when i looked at the recent posts it was all games, and I had just read the banner about debates too lol i did reply to geriatrix,'s poll about why you joined here, and that was my main reason to join in the debates so i will always try and post in those if i see the threads. I don't mind the occasional game but i dont usually post there. May be geriatrix, should add something else to the banner? I don't know , but he seems the kind of admin to take on board member's views. |

I saw the "have fun", it looks great! Thanks! That's the beauty of it. We can experiment and try different things. Some of it works, some doesn't. I often want to include too much, so it's important that others give me some relevant feedback. Together, we develop this site into something unique. |
