Within the next ten years, the drone industry will have close to $100 billion economic impact. Whether we are ready for them or not, drones will start to be integrated into numerous industries and will serve many uses in the public and private sectors. Drones have the potential to transform multiple industries including telecommunications, weather forecast, maritime monitoring, transportation, search and rescue; and oil and gas exploration. Agriculture could see 80 percent industry growth from use of drones. Drones will save money and are more energy efficient. Drones cost $1000 as compared to $1,000 per-hour-manned aerial vehicles preforming the same tasks. Also, the more drones that are delivering your Amazon packages and spraying your crops, the less semi-trucks and planes burning up fossil fuel. Drone use is already happening and successful. Australia, France, Canada and Germany all permit the use of commercial drones.

The thought of drones buzzing by to deliver packages to houses and apartments or flying overhead at a street festival is very frightening to some people. It's the first thing you will hear someone say that is skeptical of drone technology. It is a concern for the Federal Aviation Administration also. The proposed FAA guidelines have currently been set to ease the safety concerns in regards to commercial drones. Commercial drones must stay below 500 feet and cannot travel above 100mph. They also, for the time being, cannot fly above pedestrians and must remain in sight of the operator. These guidelines have been put in place until logistical programmes can catch up to issues of privacy and until the technology becomes less vulnerable.
