Yes, I guess some of the governmental agencies overlap their tasks. My impression is that while the FBI is supposed to be an overbridging body coordinating cases where more than one state's police force is involved, the CIA is more into covert operations, phone tapping and international matters like espionage and terrorism. Corrrect me if I'm wrong.
