The Dead Sea is shrinking and as its waters vanish at a rate of more than one meter a year, hundreds of sinkholes, some the size of a basketball court, some two storeys deep, are devouring land where the shoreline once stood. source Reuters

The Dead Sea is almost 1000 feet deep, so it the current evaporation rate, it will take quite a while until it's completely dry, but during the course of a decade or two, its circumference will shrink noticeably and possibly split into smaller salt lakes.
And the sink holes certainly makes it dangerous to live in and visit the area along the banks.

A slow and agonizing death! Just think how many salt lakes have evaporated completely over the last 100 years or so.
