More new friends! Say hello to 'Long-Neck', 'Lizzie' and 'Jaffa'. Purchasing these at Big W was a bit chaotic. There was no price tag on the shelf and when I went to pay for them, they wouldn't scan. Someone had to be sent to find how much they cost. The result ended up being nearly $40 (Lizzie and Jaffa came as a twin pack), but I was able to use the last $20 of my rewards money to bring the price down to $14.20, only to find the same toy line being sold in K-Mart of $10 each. Thankfully, K-Mart didn't have these particular figures in stock. Rather big fellows - a couple of feet long?

Technically, Lizzie isn't a dinosaur. She's a type of dicynodont called Lystrosaurus.

Tix Mascot , Joey , well done for correctly guessing the answer to this week's quiz question. You were asked: Which large Theropod has the nickname "Lion of the Jurassic"? Torvosaurus, Yangchuanosaurus, Allosaurus, Saurophaganax, Ceratosaurus or Megalosaurus?Answer: Allosaurus. One of the largest and most common Theropods during the Late Jurassic in what is now the western United States. The nickname "Lion of the Jurassic" comes from it being an apex predator. Sometimes, Allosaurus is also called "the ground hawk" due to a new theory of it attacking prey by grasping with not only its jaws, but also its clawed feet, in a similar way to how hawks attack their prey.Today's dino:Name: TototlmimusPronunciation: Toe-toe-tl-my-musMeaning of name: "Bird mimic"Species: T. packardensisSize: Uncertain due to a lack of fossils, but is estimated to have measured around 3.8 metres long and weighing 125kgs.Family: OrnithomimidaeDiet: Uncertain. Likely either a herbivore or omnivore.First fossils found: Known only from a single, partial skeleton discovered in the Packard Formation of northeastern Mexico. Named by Claudia Inés Serrano-Brañas, Esperanza Torres-Rodríguez, Paola Carolina Reyes-Luna, Ixchel González-Ramírez and Carlos González-León in 2015.Lived: 83.6 to 72.1 million years ago during the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous in what is now northeastern Mexico.

New quiz question: What name have scientists given to the asteroid that caused the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago? Orcus, Makemake, Eros, Chicxulub, Haumea, Quaoar, Gonggong or Sedna? I think that I heard about this once, but must have forgotten, so we're back at playing the guessing game again. How about Haumea?
