According to some psychologists, taking selfies helps improve self esteem by promoting having confidence in one's appearance for a variety of people, not just conventionally attractive people. If we follow this line of thinking, selfies are not stupid, what is stupid is telling people they should not be proud of what they look like. Besides, taking selfies isn't hurting anyone. No one says you have to look at them.  Selfies are not pointless if they are taken for a purpose. For example, if they are taken with friends to celebrate a moment or if you are at an important place. They are an excellent way to remember events, especially if there is nobody around to take a picture for you! Selfies can also be used to get your friend's opinions on your outfit/hair etc. In doing this, you may be more likely to look your best and achieve the best you can. If some people hate selfies, maybe they're just jealous! |

There are a few people that post selfies non stop on Instagram. Not with different cloths, not with different hair just ones taken seconds apart. I don't get it. I have taken a couple but most have added masks or special effects added. Most I rarely use. One of my firsts was a favorite.  |

There are a lot of Photo Bombs out there. I love seeing them so started a thread for just that. Love my phone camera because it is so handy to use. Not sure I've captured any as I mostly take pictures of plants and animals. But they are usually fun to see. Having a phone can be just as unhandy. You can't get away from the world for a minute. Once and a while I'll run errands just so I don't get unwanted calls or updates on games while I'm driving.

It's like everything else isn't it? It's okay in moderation. I like the ones that are obviously mementoes of occasions or places, I really don't like the ones taken by drunken people who really don't know what they're doing until much later when the embarrassment sets in.

You walk peacefully around minding your own business and enjoying life. All of a sudden, somebody snaps a picture of you without you noticing it and then uploading it to a site where they make fun of you. Not very funny...
