Ice cream is being sold with hundreds of flavors around the world. Some are great, some are good and some are just … strange. A Pennsylvania scoop shop tried this fascinating variation: www.thekitchn.com/

Have you tried to eat frozen pasta? It turns hard as stone and may break your teeth, so a very bad choice for ice cream, regardless of the taste.

I sometimes keep cheese in the freezer so it doesn't go bad. But I don't eat it frozen!

They even make it with bacon now! And you can do it yourself. Here's the recipe: Ingredients1 cup dry pasta noodle (I used penne) 2 cups 1/2 & 1/2 1 cup sugar 4 egg yolks 1 cup shredded cheddar/jack cheese 2 tsp vanilla Candied Bacon: 6 strips bacon 6 tbsp brown sugar InstructionsTo make the ice cream: Cook pasta, then drain it and set aside until it’s cool. Chop up the cool pasta and set aside. Mix the half and half and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until it’s warm. While it’s warming, mix the egg yolks in medium bowl. Slowly paddle the warm half and half into the whisked yolks. Whisking the entire time. Pour the custard back into the pan you were warming the half and half in. Cook over medium/low heat until the custard thickens, stirring with a wooden spoon. Once it’s thickened a bit, turn off the heat and stir in the cheese and vanilla. Cool the custard int he fridge until it’s completely cooled. It will get really thick! To make the candied bacon: Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Lay the strips of bacon on a wire cooling rack placed over a cookie sheet (you can line the cookie sheet with tin foil for easier clean up). Generously sprinkle both sides of the bacon with brown sugar. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the bacon is sizzling. Allow it to cool, then chop it up. Set aside until he ice cream is ready to be churned. To finish the ice cream: Add the cheese custard to your ice cream maker and church for about 20 minutes. At the very end, fold in the chopped pasta noodles and the chopped candied bacon. *You can reserve some bacon to sprinkle on top of each bowl of ice cream, or you can add it all. Scoop the ice cream into a freezer safe container and freeze until it’s firm.
