I remember more than 20 years ago, I was ysing Yahoo a lot. But at some point, Google became a better search engine, so I switched to that one and I have rarely visited Yahoo since.

Although it still has millions of users, Yahoo has definitely lost the competition with Google as people's preferred search engine.
So what is the future of the company? The management doesn't seem to have a great faith in it, as they are considering selling out.
But in case they decide to continue, they should probably focus on
targeted advertisement
websites with real data - not bias or data with misleading content
privacy
their own video platform
more accurate news without advertisement
personal assistance for their mobile platform
search box tailored answers - easier and more convenient
live sport stats on the search box
live weather
personalised search

In my eyes as old school Yahoo, never made it to this birthday when they did away with user rooms, then we started using the voice chat rooms at the Yahoo Groups, they did away with them net, people lefted yahoo years ago or Pal Talk and other chat sites, Yahoo used to be the number one Voice Chat on the internet, now Pal Talk has took the tile leading in voice chat over any other chat site, sadly they kill a good thing Yahoo Did, by time they fully did away with the public chat rooms, all they did was run off the last of the last, we had took over public chat rooms like fansty baseball was one i held claim to for years, We made the un used room into a good music room, then there was the football room were music the blue grass country gospel people went to with there open mic room, Sadly Yahoo died in my eyes years ago so it never lived to see this birthday, i no i not the only old school person from yahoo that would tell u the same, with no voice chat yahoo will never be yahoo again. Just seeing this thread i didnt even read the link provied i didnt need to because i lived Yahoo, i grow up in Yahoo, hell my yahoo days is how i learn to build big web sites way before forums..lol

I remember those Yahoo Groups, gator. I was once a mamber of one about philosophy, but it became infested with trolls, so I left. I didn't know that Yahoo has abandoned the entire function. Anyway, Yahoo was a pioneer in its own right, so I hope that it will survive in one shape or another, it deserves that much. |

Since it helpes you a lot, gator, I'm sure Yahoo must have had that effect on many others, too. So, one can probably say that it has served its purpose well so far, then what remains to see is where it takes us into the next 25 years. |

Wonder how Yahoo got that exclamation behind its name? According to multiple reports, Yang and Filo added the exclamation mark at the end of Yahoo because the word 'Yahoo' was already owned by a company that made BBQ sauce.

The owners of Yahoo considered buying Google before went public. However, at the time Yahoo decided that a few billion dollars was too much to pay to buy out their competitor.
