There are people among us claiming that the Internet is a very dangerous tool. They say that the consequences of spending much time in front of the computer may be very bad. Some of those, who have no access to the Internet themselves, claim that it is not necessary for a normal life.  |

The Internet has been an advantage for people from all walks of life and across the globe. It provides an easy access to information, communication and opportunities. It's more readily accessible to an ever expanding audience than any other tool or resource in history. This flow of information and ideas provides an ever increasing number of people on the planet the chance to enhance their education, enjoy increasingly free expressions of thoughts and ideas; and even establish the foundation for greater freedom and liberties in previously restrictive societies.  |

There is currently an enormous gap between what's possible and what's commercially available. But as time passes, the costs of producing ultra-high-speed networks will decrease. Eventually, the average consumer will be able to download a high-definition movie in a second or play cloud-based video games without a hint of lag.

Polls show that we can never agree on whether the Internet is good or bad. It's great for many things, like helping people stay in touch, spreading vital information and easing the burden of everyday tasks, like shopping or paying the bills. It’s also terrible for a lot of reasons, many of which we’ve seen play out in the past couple of years thanks to the proliferation of fake news on Facebook and YouTube; and the influence of filter bubbles on public discourse.

If I didn't have the laptop here I would be sitting and watching TV. It's 1:14 in the morning. So what is better Computers or TV? For me it's an easy choice, I'll take my laptop and post to my friends...while most of them are in bed.

Both the TV and the Internet are time thieves. But while the former is entirely passive, the latter stimulates your brain on several levels, so it is much more useful. I don't think it will take long for the two to merge into one device, since the process has already started.
A friend of mine is watching TV via his computer and only using the TV screen as a large monitor.

Good point!
It's a natural consequence of our technologial development. If we turned off the Internet, we would be sent back to the Cyber Stone Age and have to contact each other through the electronical version of smoke signals.
