You will have a great time watching the moon. As the shadows change you get a new view every night. Did they give you a 28mm eye piece? Seems that's the norm now. Mine had a 32mm so now you need a 2X extender and you will change the 28mm to a 14mm.
Looking at the case you might have the 2X and a couple lenses very cool.

But you will enjoy it next spring, summer and fall. Winter is good too depending on the weather, the air during the winter is the best because the sky can be crystal clear.

Please remember to keep us posted whenever you spot something of interest! Does your telescope have camera possibilities, too?

Does your telescope have camera possibilities, too? Yes, I will need to buy a mounting attachment but it will allow you to take pictures

You're ready to go have you checked out the fishing shacks yet? Maybe check out what they are catching. Like the new mounts. Back in my day they had a U shaped mount that was super heavy.

It's a 25mm lens.. thinking we might need something else because it doesn't seem to get very close up.. then again we haven't tried to look at anything but across the lake

You will probably use the 25mm when looking at the moon. Then maybe add the 2X.
