Iran is currently in the middle of social unrest.. which isn't the first time that has happened. The last time it happened was 2009 I think and the President at that time chose to do nothing. He did not support or condemn the protesters. Now it is happening again, people calling for change in Iran. Our current President has embraced the Protesters in his usual fashion, via Twitter. Hard as it is to keep personal feelings out of this, I am curious what the opinion here is.. Should we look away and just let Iran handle it, or should we cheer the protesters on and support them (in thought only).

I don't like regimes where people are being oppressed, so to me, this is an overdue, but not entirely surprising reaction. Other countries have managed to build a democracy on protest movements, like Poland.
What will happen in Iran is a result of how reform willing the governing priesthood really is and how much momentum the protesters will gain before they eventually are curbed.
I don't think Iran is ready for a full blown revolution at this time, but what we have seen lately may be the first crack in the wall.
Foreign agents should keep a low profile until they are officially welcomed, but I see no harm in supporting the protesters on forums like this.

Very true Sigma, not a full blown rebellion but a few more cracks in the wall.

We aren't the world police so I think we should stay out of it. Who ever is left standing we still have to work with.
