The time it took for a press on the keyboard to show up on the screen on the Apple IIe when it was first launched in 1983 beat more modern computers with its latency response of 30 milliseconds. A 2014 MacBook Pro was lagging behind on 100ms, while a Windows machine running an Intel i7 processor took 200ms.
It's all to do with the complexity of the systems; while older machines are nowhere near as powerful, they also have much less to handle in terms of inputs, outputs and all the various processes along the way.

So, speed isn't all. If you want speed, delete all the unnecessary things that slow down your computer. My PC became much faster when I got rid of iTunes and Skype.

iTunes is just a way to store recorded sound. It takes up a lot of space and likes to override your favorite settings. Does Skype still exist? I thought people used FaceTime and WhatsApp for video conversations these days.

This includes the updates as well. They are taking increasingly longer time to complete and in the meantime, the users have got more grey hair and an urgent need for high blood pressure medication! |

That's annoying. Good thing we have access to more than one, so we can switch between them if one goes into slow mode. But generally, I prefer Chrome.

The fastest browser is allegedly Slimjet. I tried to install it, but Windows Defender warned me against it, so I aborted the operation.

I checked my computer speed again today. It was excellent in most areas, but the test result sugested that I should merge many Javascript codes, whatever that means, to further optimize the speed.
