He may just be one of many, but he has done much for civil rights so taking note that he was diagnosed in 2015 and now has decided to share it with the world both his diagnosis and his struggle with this awful awful disease his more than worth noting.
I lost one aunt to this disease.
I know others now who are suffering with this disease and using all sorts of protocols to slow down its advance.
Some of them were brilliant and extremely active people who are being robbed of their intellect as well as their mobility.
Anyone who has been close to someone fighting this disease knows how difficult the struggle is.

Like I said he is one of many, many that were also brilliant and did lots of good things. They just didn't get publicity for it. My SIL's mother died of it, my Great Uncle died of it as well as 2 other relatives. So while I'm sorry he was diagnosed with it, I don't forget all the others as well.

People tend to become more open about their medical conditions nowadays. In the past, it was a kind of taboo and associated with shame, so I don't blame Mr Jackson for trying to hide it for as long as he could.

Many people, both famous and not, try very hard to hide as many medical conditions they have for various reasons.

To come clean and admit to a medical condition is a way to avoid unnecessary speculations, I guess, like the case was with Michael Jackson during a period of his life.

That's why they are called "public figures," Justbec. Exactly so Ariel. While it is difficult for private people, it is generally more difficult for public figures. You are constantly under the spotlight. Any misstep is going to be noticed. Jackson hid this since his diagnosis in 2015. He has been dealing with this most life altering disease in the public spotlight. He obviously felt he finally had to go public and/or some publication was about to out him.

This man has been a civil rights activist for decades.
And now he is and has been fighting a horrible disease.
And that is what you choose to post ?
The old cliche about not kicking someone when they are down means nothing to you apparently.

The old cliche about not kicking someone when they are down means nothing to you apparently. I already said I felt bad for him but I'm not going to wring my hands because he had to make a public statement about it. He has made millions off being a 'public figure' and I am sure he will have the best care money can buy, unlike most that suffer with this horrible disease.

Whatever his bank account is no excuse for you kicking him now.
Good for him if he has the resources to be able to try and fight this disease.
The goal is always to raise other people up, and get them access to the health care they require as a right, not tear people down who may have that access.
Access to health care is absolutely no excuse to kick anyone when they are fighting a horrible disease.
