Hermann's Grid This optical illusion is named after Ludimar Hermann, who discovered it in 1870. At every point where the white lines intersect, our eyes perceive a gray, shadowy blob. The “blue” and “green” stripes are in fact the same color (open it in Photoshop if you don't believe me)!  The blue and green really look blue and green to me. Guess I will have to open them in Photoshop. |

I like this one because the lines red lines look bent but are actually straight. The forum resizes it but if you click on the picture it makes it larger and you can see how bent they look.  |

Moving Dots A certain peculiarity with our eyes make the dots look as if they’re moving. It’s really an after-image which remains for a moment on our retinas just after we’ve seen it. Though scientists don’t know for sure, they believe minuscule, unfelt eye movements can cause a sort of overlap in what we see, thus giving certain patterns the illusion of movement.
