What do you feed your pets? Have you tried Raw?
My cats get any and everything they will eat. Fancy Feast mostly, Purina cat chow and Special kitty canned food for the strays outside. My inside cats get Blue Buffalo wilderness dry along with the Fancy feast.
Archie gets IAMS Large breed puppy chow. Our breeder is a believer in RAW foods and gave her dogs frozen raw chicken and beef. I just can't do that and our Vet agrees. I do give him bits of thin sliced beef as a treat.
Our birds.. hubby is in charge of the seed and they get every thing from safflower seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, regular seed, peanuts, avi cakes and nutri berries. I am in charge of the fresh stuff which includes fresh pineapple, fresh mango, apples, grapes, lettuce and corn.

We feed Emory Science Diet for puppies and a dry dog food for small puppies and Ricco has never eaten anything but mixed Veggies. It has corn, green bean, carrots etc in it. I have them frozen so I microwave them first. Give him a peanut and breaks it in half and drops it. He has no clue he would eat the peanuts inside. To night he got some tortellini too. The night before he had some french fries. He likes people food. But parrots are different from smaller birds. We had two conures and all they ever ate was seeds.

Always look for recalls for any pet food you but. here is an example of some I just found.
Recalls & Withdrawals Date Brand Name Product Description 01/15/2016 Vital Essentials Frozen Chicken Patties Entree for Dogs 01/04/2016 Big Dog Natural (bdn) Raw dehydrated dog food Chicken Supreme and Fish Supreme 12/11/2015 Stella and Chewy's Pet Food, Frozen Dinner Morsels 12/10/2015 Bravo Chicken and Turkey Pet Food
Just search Pet Food Recall and there are several site to check.

We retrying to ween Emory off of wet food and go with dry only. We redoing it slowly and she likes both about the same it seems. We always have some dry food out for her and it's gone every day, So she really likes it. Within the dry would be better for her teeth.

No new pet food recalls since January. I hope that means they are checking the food better. But if I see one I'll post it ASAP.

One of Sammy's favorite treats were on the list and when we went to get them they had been pulled from the shelves with no explanation. We found her a new favorite. Treats are easy to change. Dog or Cat food might be a little harder, Some pets can be picky eaters and some will eat what ever you put out.
But I'll keep my eyes peeled. A lot of companies don't like to have it broadcast because it hurts there bottom line. the worry more about profit than your pet.

It should be in their interest to produce safe items then, since ending up on the black list could mean less income and possibly bancruptcy.

I agree, once people find another food for their dog they aren't going to with back to the ones that had problems. That's what we did with the one treats she liked so well. I think the brand of treats she switched Sammy to was Milo brand. So thats what we give Emory too. I wish they checked pet food as close as they do human food.

We feed our last dog Sammy Science Diet Prescription Diet. So we had to get it at the Vet. It helped her stomach.
It's made by Hill's it was part of the recall years ago. But there was never anything wrong with the food it's self. It was the labeling that was the problem. It was the Best Used by date.
If you have a dog you know the date would rarely be the problem. I know it won't be with Emory, she eats it as fast as she can get it. Plus since she is small we buy small bags that don't last long. Emory also gets some canned Science Diet can food but very little partly because of her size and partly because we want her eating more dry dog food because we think it would be better for her teeth.

Wow, each animal has its own nutrition plan. Makes sense, but it's something you hardly reflect on. And all the effort to follow up on it...

Having a good Vet is a nice plus and will steer you to the right foods if needed. So far Emory doesn't have any problem...well having to have her baby teeth pulled was a problem but one day and she was back to normal. I'm trying not to over feed her but she still is a puppy but when I leave the house driving I encounter a few people walking there small dogs. They just keep getting bigger and bigger till soon they are walking a oblong ball with 4 legs. I feel really bad for the dogs.
It's one thing as to what we do to our own bodies but if we are unhealthy should we do the same to our dogs? I say we are the ones in control of their little lives. They are our 4 legged kids, so would we stuff our kids till they can barely walk. People do but sadly the kids have to pay the consequences. And you will end up with higher Vet bills.
