There are a lot of different sounds to American English.
And going back to Wisconsin simple questions can turn into a mini marathon at times...
Me - Have you seen our cousin Sandy?
Cousin - Oh yea hey I saw her in town just yesterday afternoon and said you would be in town and she said oh yaa hey my first love.
The correct answer would have been - yes or yes yesterday.
All their stories, doesn't matter what you ask it will start out with Oh Yaa hey or yea hey...
Cousin walks into a bar and the bartender would say oh yea hey Glenn glad to see, you need beer
Cousin - Yea hey this a bar right.
Bartender yea hey you have the right place what can I get you...
Cousin thinking...Yaa hey Bob why don't cha get me one of dem Old Styles.
Bartender - yaa hey Glenn coming right up and you're in luck just put a fresh keg in.
Cousin - Oh Yea hey Bob just what I was looking for....
It drives you nuts but it's funny at the same time. If you hear enough you don't even notice it

Here are some people in this town that mainly talk with slang works to the point you can hardly understand what they are saying. Some have jobs and it's a mystery to me how they can keep the job. Seems hey cut off the last part of the work and extend all the vowels. I have a friend in Texas and I use to talk to her sister too. But her sister typed in a slang version go English that made little sense. Once she got in college she started typing more normal and now out of college and with 2 kids the slang has left. Guess is she doesn't want her kids talking like she use to.
Say you were placing an order at McD's and ordered a hamburger and fries. They would still ask -
gu wan fry wit dat
would you like fries with that...is it that had to say?

Some are even worse than that and it makes me wonder how they got out of grade school much less high school. I grew up in Wisconsin so I under stand there accent but these kids live in the area. There a Noodle place I go to and I really hope one guy isn't taking orders. Luckily the all ask the same thing and I've been there enough to know when to say yes parmesan cheese, because he has no idea how to saw parmesan.
You would think in training to do the job he would learn these words. He has to saw them during just about every order. smiley-scared003

I use to keep track of a TX friends little girl and the words she would say. My favorite was Act Juilie = Actually
A neighborhood kid years ago you would ask what is your favorite flavor and it would be Fraberry = Strawberry
Little kids when they are learning to talk is a lot of fun. Not so fun when they are grown and working and still can't speak English.
