 What is your best travel story?I have a few memorable travels. I'd say that one of the most memorable was a spur of the moment road trip down the Coast to California. So lovely and I met so many nice people and saw some completely unexpected, beautiful and interesting places. |

In 1995, I had invited my parents to Italy, where I lived and worked at the time. We rented a car and wanted to visit the Amalfi Coast on a sunny Sunday. The winding two lane was congested and the cars moved a couple of meters every other minutes for about ten kilometers. Immediately behind me was a local bus. The driver started to honk his horn and indicated that he wanted to overtake me. I could see no point in that, since he would achieve nothing and even create a dangerous situation with the traffic in the opposite direction. But he continued honking until I stopped my rented Fiat Panda, opened the door and approached him with my long-haired, bearded 191 centimeters tall, Viking-style frame. My Italian wasn't as good as it is now, but I managed to let him know that I was an experienced bus driver from the Norwegian mountain roads and that his behaviour was a disgrace to the entire profession worldwide. I also told him that if I heard his horn again, I would return and eat his ignition key for lunch. The threatening message obviously sunk in, because I didn't hear another peep from him...

When my husband retired we bought an RV & traveled/lived in it for eight years; winters we spent in Florida & summers we visited Illinois, Indiana, N & S Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Colorado & Wyoming.

When Mitch was ill 20 years ago we altered our eating habits completely and now he is fitter than me.

Id love to do that one day Our most memorable travel trip would be on the spur of the moment we went up to the tip of Australia. It was 1600 klms of corrugated road. We went through rivers and camped out in the bush. Very adventurous around 15 years ago. |
