What is the most interesting thing you have on you or near you right now? My wedding rings and a beautiful hand-blown glass pen holder from the MOMA gift shop.

What are the consequences of everyone having instant distraction at their fingertips?

What are the consequences of everyone having instant distraction at their fingertips?
By definition, distraction means "a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else".
So that would certainly be one way of looking at it.
IMO even though most of us have instant distraction st their fingertips, as the QOTD poses, not everyone succumbs to not giving their full attention to what they are doing just as if they did not have this situation.
Also, people have been multi-tasking for years. Way before smart phones in 2007, home computers in 1983, etc.
It is just now there are all of there high tech distractions on top of the one we had before...like working at home at night while cooking dinner and perhaps trying to switch to family mode.
It is a good question that IMO could be a a discussion thread.

What are the consequences of everyone having instant distraction at their fingertips? Simple... texting while driving, talking on the phone while driving, both usually end up in someone's death. Rudeness because people can't pry themselves away from a phone or computer long enough to have a conversation.. the list goes on and on.

Agreed with both of your points, @justbec. Not only do those distractions have deadly consequences while driving, they lead, as you said, to rudeness and an inability to actually communicate face-to-face. People are forgetting how to have actual conversations.

We had some friends that were great at costumes. They went as Buckwheat and Alfalfa. He went as Buckwheat they got his hair from blonde to black and they got his skin dark just like the actor. Hers was a little easier. She had short hair and slicked it down but was having a hard time getting the cowlick to stay standing. She ended up using egg whites and once the party was over they had a little problem getting his hair back to blonde and the cowlick you could fold over and it would spring back to life. Even after washing her hair several times the cowlick was still actively standing.
