Be respectful of the law, police officers and your elders, always be true to your family and friends, and never let anyone make you unhappy.

If there was one piece of advice you could pass on to the next generation, what would it be? Be kind, you never know what other people are going through.

If someone wanted to impress you, what would they need to do?

Stick to their word once they have promised me something. Unfortunately, so many people are all mouth and no action these days that it has become the norm.

I've accepted such offers many times in the past. Nowadays, however, with ailing health and family, I would be very selective...

I worked there from December 1994 to January 1996 and it was a great relief after having spent the last 14 months in Somalia. Still, many things were different, like culture, food and language, all of which I had to get used to in record time to function well. It also helped that my then future step-son didn't speak much English, so the need to communicate with him triggered my motivation to learn Italian properly. Yes, I would recommend everybody to live and work in Italy if you have the opportunity. It will absolutely be worth your while.
