There's been a tragic end to the search for a missing 9-year-old with police discovering the little girl's body in a barrel last night. Her mother's fiancé has been charged with murder.

There are definitely some people who shouldn't have kids. John Myles Sharpe is one such person. In May 2004, he appeared on national television to speak about the disappearance of his pregnant wife, Anna, and their 20-month-old daughter, Gracie. A month later, he was arrested on suspicion of murder. Eventually, he confessed to shooting Anna and Gracie multiple times with a spear-gun and dumping their bodies at a local rubbish tip. He's now spending the rest of his life in prison. I don't understand how someone could even contemplate harming a child, especially their own son/daughter.

Police have released more information about the murder of nine-year-old Charlise Mutten in NSW last week, revealing that she was shot to death before being stuffed in a barrel and dumped in the Colo River.

If you don't want kids or feel that you can't take care of them, give them to child services. Mistreating them is plainly cruel.

Well when I think about it it the guy up the street wanted me dead there is no way to stop him. He could drive over and I would open the door and he could kill me anyway he wanted. On January 1st this year there were to murders to start the year off. The guy shot several people and killed two people he didn't even know. Not really sure how you stop that without taking everyones hand guns and that will never happen in the USA.

You don't need a hand gun or a knife to kill a child, just grab their throat and squeeze. You're right, though - theoretically, we aren't safe anyehere, even in our own homes. It gets particularly ugly when it happens by parents and other people that you trust and that are supposed to protect you.

We just had two more murders and they were infant size killed by their dad in both cases. How does anyone kill their own child...I'll never understand.
