Time to reveal the answer to this week's quiz question. You were asked: Which of the following dinosaurs was the first to be discovered? Kentrosaurus, Segnosaurus, T. Rex, Plateosaurus, Ornitholestes, Ceratosaurus, Vulcanodon, Oviraptor, Struthiomimus or Heterodontosaurus?Answer: Plateosaurus. The first Plateosaurus fossils were discovered by Johann Friedrich Engelhardt in southeastern Germany in 1834 and named by German palaeontologist, Christian Erich Hermann von Meyer, in 1837. One of the first large dinosaurs, Plateosaurus lived during the Norian and Rhaetian stages of the Late Triassic, between 227 and 204 million years ago.
Today's dino:
Name: Boreonykus Pronunciation: Bor-ee-on-ee-kus Meaning of name: "Northern claw" Species: B. certekorum Size: Uncertain due to a lack of fossils. Family: Velociraptorinae (a subfamily of Dromaeosauridae) Diet: Carnivore First fossils found: Known only from a right frontal skull bone, a sickle claw of the foot, a rear caudal vertebra, a claw of the second finger and some loose teeth, discovered in the Wapiti Formation of central Alberta, western Canada. Named by Phil Bell and Philip John Currie in 2015. Was originally thought to be a species of Saurornitholestes. Lived: 73.27 million years ago during the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous in what is now western Canada.

Found something fun this morning. It's called Ancient Earth Globe. Just type in where you live and it shows you where your home was during various stages of prehistoric Earth including the Early Triassic, Late Jurassic and the end of the Cretaceous.
