Time to reveal the answer to this week's quiz question. You were asked: Also known as the 'Age of Reptiles', how many million years long was the Mesozoic era? 150, 186, 225 or 269?
Answer: 186 million years. The Mesozoic era is the second-to-last era of Earth's geological history, lasting from 251.902 to 66 million years ago, and is divided into three periods: Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. The first dinosaurs appeared during the Middle Triassic and, by the beginning of the Jurassic, had become the dominant land animals, occupying this position for roughly 160 million years until their extinction at the end of the Cretaceous.
