I'm always looking for something interesting to share with you. Scientists have confirmed that a partial skull discovered in New Mexico during the early 1980s is a new species of Tyrannosaurus, which they've named Tyrannosaurus mcraeensis. It lived during the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous (73.2 million years ago), around six or seven million years before T-Rex.

Time to reveal the answer to this week's quiz question. You were asked: For three-quarters of its length, the tail of Deinonychus was stiff. What did this stiff tail help with?
Answer: Balance, agility and energy preservation. One of the most fearsome predators of the Early Cretaceous (and one of my personal favourite dinos), Deinonychus lived in what is now the western and south-central United States. Its name, meaning "Terrible claw", refers to the unusually large, sickle-shaped talon on the second toe of each hind foot. Unlike many other dinos, most of this animal's tail was held stiff by tendons that overlapped several vertebrae. This stiffened tail allowed Deinonychus to keep its balance and change direction rapidly whilst chasing prey. Also, the tail wouldn't have been waving around as much as the animal ran, which helped preserve energy.

This one will probebly eat Sindbad as a snack if I don't hide him! Which sauropod's name means "Double beam"? Alamosaurus, Demandasaurus, Paluxysaurus, Vahiny, Diplodocus or Rapetosaurus? I'll try to analyse the names and my best guess is Diplodocus.
