Pronunciation: Tan-e-us
Meaning of name: "Of Tan", after Chinese palaeontologist, Tan Xichou.
Species: T. sinensis, T. chingkankouensis
Size: Estimated to have measured around 7 metres long and weighing 2 metric tonnes.
Family: Uncertain. Likely Hadrosaurid.
Diet: Herbivore
First fossils found: Known from fossils discovered in the Jiangjunding Formation of Shandong Province, eastern China. First discovered in 1923. T. sinensis named by Swedish palaeontologist, Carl Wiman, in 1929. T. chingkankouensis named by Chinese palaeontologist, Yang Zhongjian, in 1958.
Lived: Depending on species, lived between 83.6 and 71 million years ago during the Campanian and Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous in what is now eastern China.

Known only from a single, partial skeleton, Ornitholestes ("Bird robber") was a small Theropod, estimated to have measured around two metres long and weighing between 10 and 15kgs. It lived in what is now the western United States around 154 million years ago during the Kimmeridgian stage of the Late Jurassic.
