Time to reveal the answer to this week's quiz question. You were asked: Palaeontologists currently recognize how many species of Velociraptor? Two, four, six or eight?
Answer: Two. One of the most famous non-avian dinos, the name Velociraptor comes from the Latin words 'velox' meaning 'swift' and 'raptor' meaning 'robber' or 'plunderer'. We currently know of two species, V. mongoliensis (named in 1924) and V. osmolskae (named in 2008), both of which lived in southern Mongolia and northern China during the Campanian and Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous, between 75 and 71 million years ago.

Looks peaceful enough for a carnivore, but don't let it fool you! New quiz question: Which sauropod from the Late Jurassic has a name meaning "Chambered lizard"? Brachiosaurus, Lusotitan, Camarasaurus or Diplodocus?Sometimes, it pays off to know different languages. In Italian, the choice should be clear, but I'll wait until others have answered, to not influence them.

Strange facial 'cap'.
As for the quiz: In Latin-Italian, brachio/bracio means 'arm', while camara/camera means 'chamber/room', so I go with camarasausus.
